The island of Symi lies north-west of Rhodes and east of Nisyros, in the emnbrace of the Turkish coast, 5 nautical miles from Cape Alopos.
Itis deeply indented by the sea, which creates a lacy coastline. It has an area of 58 square
kilometres and 85 kilometres of coastline.
