Map of Agistri island

Agistri is an island of Greece with an area of ​​11.97 square kilometers with an altitude of 294 meters, southwest and at a distance of 3.5 kilometers from the port of Aegina, with 1,142 inhabitants .It belongs to the Prefecture of Attica and is located in the heart of the Saronic Gulf. There are four villages on the island: Megalochori or Mylos, Skala, the natural port where ferries from Piraeus and Aegina approach, Limenaria and Metochi.

The island has a daily ferry connection with Piraeus. The duration of the trip by ferry is 1.5 hours while with the hydrofoil it takes 55 minutes. The ferry connection with Piraeus started in 1960 while until then boats from and to Aegina were not used. The inauguration of the new port in Megalochori took place on September 1, 2006. The new port was built for the decongestion of the main port of Skala and the general upgrade of tourism on the island. The flying dolphins of the ferry connection with Piraeus today approach the new port in Megalochori.
