King of Ethiopia, son of Eos and Tithonos, who fought with the Trojans in the Trojan War. When he was killed by Achilles, Zeus made him immortal for his mother's sake. Supposedly there was two huge statues of him in Egypt. It was said that the sun came very close to the Ethiopians and burned their skin black. They were considered a just people the gods loved.
