Western Macedonia is another region of Greece, it is located on the western side of the central region of Macedonia. Western Macedonia is characterized by mountainous landscapes and dense forests. It includes Lake Prespa, which is an important habitat for many species of birds and other animals.

The area is known for lignite mining, which has contributed significantly to the local economy. Agriculture and livestock are also important sectors of the economy, with the production of grains, fruits and vegetables.

The capital of the region is Kozani, a city known for its cultural life and educational facilities. Other important cities include Florina, Ptolemaida and Grevena.
