The roman emperor Marcus Aurelius teacher was a wealthy, capable man who was very interested in culture.

Herodes was born in Marathon and is best known for having restored many ruined cities in Greece, and building the Odeon in Athens, the stadium in Delphi and the baths in Thermopylae.
