A fellow studeny with Socrates in Athens, Aristippus founded the school of hedonism. He distinguished between the best and the worst in human life: pleasure and torment, and stated that the most important thing is to realize which pleasures are good and which lead to suffering, and so, through good judgment reach the greatest good.
