What are the best beaches in Sikinos

All the beaches of Sikinos still retain their pristine character, sheltered in small coves, others invisible behind rocky islets and under steep cliffs, sandy or rocky with crystal clear blue-green waters. Most of the island’s beaches can be reached by boats.

The beaches of Sikinos are sheltered in small coves, hidden behind rocky islands, spread out at the mouth of canyons and under steep rocks. The perimeter of the island is only 30 kilometers and Sikinos has unique beaches, all on the eastern side, at least in terms of the beaches of Sikinos that attract people.

Agios Georgios beach

Agios Georgios beach is located in a closed bay, on the eastern side of Sikinos, overlooking the homonymous rock island, Ios, Thirasia and Santorini. Access is by car, bus and boat. It is the second longest beach of the island, popular, with sand and some pebbles, a few umbrellas from the municipality, prone to the winds and natural shade from a few tamarisk trees. Ideal for families with children, a windsurfing board, a mask for its wonderful seabed and a snorkel. To the left of the beach is a slippery slab in the sea. On a small hill, on the right side of the beach, there is the homonymous church of Ai Giorgi from the 16th century, to which it owes its name. At the end of it there is a small tavern.

Agios Ioannis beach

The beach of Agios Ioannis is located in a closed bay, on the southeast side of Sikinos, below the homonymous church of Agios Ioannis the Theologian, overlooking Thirasia and Santorini. Access is by boat or by a difficult path of 3-4 kilometers from Episkopi. It is a very small beach, isolated, windless, pebbly, without shade and with a well with drinking water. Ideal for mask and speargun.

Agios Panteleimonas beach

Agios Panteleimonas beach is located in the bay of the same name, on the eastern side of Sikinos, overlooking Thirasia and Santorini. Access is by boat or footpath from Kastro and Alopronia. From the church of Agios Panteleimon, the path (500 meters) is marked with white signs and in about 10 minutes it leads to the small beach with green waters. It is a very small beach with pebbles and stones, isolated, natural shade a small cave, overlooking the homonymous church and the bare slopes of Agios Mamas. The bottom is rocky, ideal for mask and snorkel.

Allopronia beach

Allopronia beach is located on the eastern side of Sikinos, overlooking Thirasia and Santorini. It is the central and largest beach of the island, next to the port, busy, windless, with sand, crystal clear and shallow waters. There are some umbrellas installed by the Municipality, several tamarisk trees for natural shade and special facilities for disabled access. Ideal for families with children. At a very short distance there are several cafes, taverns and accommodation.

Vrachakia beach

Vrachakia beach located on the eastern side of Sikinos, to the left of the port, behind the pier. Behind the waiting building there are some steps leading to flat rocks where the municipality has put a pool ladder. The space is very small, but also windless when it’s windy.

Dialiskari beach

Dialiskari beach is located in a very closed bay, on the eastern side of Sikinos, overlooking Koutsoulonisi, Ios, Thirasia and Santorini. Access is by boat and car on a rough dirt road. It is a very small beach in area but it is wide, with sand and fine pebbles, isolated, windless, natural shade from some tamarisk trees and a few umbrellas from the municipality. Just after the entrance it has a big slippery rock. Ideal for camping, masking and spearfishing. Pets are also allowed to bathe by law.

Karras beach

Karras beach is located in a very closed bay, above the bay of the same name, on the south side of Sikinos, overlooking Thirasia and Santorini. Access is by boat. It is a very small pebble beach, secluded. Ideal for mask and speargun.

Malta beach

Malta beach is located in a closed bay, on the north-eastern side of Sikinos, overlooking Ios. Access is by boat or by path from the small church of Prophet Ilias. It is one of the most beautiful beaches of Sikinos, a very small beach, with sand and fine pebbles, deep water, isolated and relatively windless. It probably got its name from the Maltese pirates who used it as a port. Ideal for mask and speargun.

Patithrakia beach

Patithrakia beach is located on the eastern side of Sikinos, a few meters east of Alopronia, towards Agios Panteleimonas. Access is via a few minutes passable path. It is a rocky beach with large pebbles, isolated and a few beach houses complete the scene.

Santorineika beach

Santorineika beach consists of two small bays and is located on the southeast side of Sikinos. Access is by trail or boat. They are very small beaches, almost private, with white pebbles, isolated and ideal for mask and snorkelling. The name comes from the Santorinian seamen, because at this point they loaded their boats with products from Sikinos (firewood and lime).
