Best places to stay in Sikinos
When choosing where to stay in Sikinos, consider your preferences and the kind of experience you are seeking. Whether you prefer to be close to the port, enjoy the charms of a traditional village, or relax on a tranquil beach, Sikinos has options to suit different tastes. It’s always a good idea to book your accommodation in advance, especially during the peak summer season, to secure your preferred choice.
Sikinos has avoided the mass market tourism that is now the main source of income on many of the more commercialised Cycladic islands so you won’t find a huge variety of hotel and other holiday accommodation here.
But there are plenty of rooms to let, especially in the port area, and the prices are low compared with those to be found on the more tourist-orientated islands such as Mykonos and Santorini.
There are no deluxe hotels with spa centres, beauty parlours and conference centre here.
The capital of Hora on the west side of the island has a small number of rooms to let and the quality is starting to improve now that an increasing number of visitors are discovering the Sikinos secret.
There are no camp sites or youth hostels on the island but many backpackers bed down under the stars or the branches of the Tamarisk trees which flank the waterfront of Alopronia.
