Schinoussa with the most lacy coastline of all the rest of the islands of the Small Cyclades and with many leeward coves, it has the most beaches and is an ideal place for those who prefer quiet and solitary holidays. Schinoussa is a relatively undiscovered gem among the Cyclades islands.

While Mykonos and Santorini might garner worldwide fame with their iconic views and vibrant nightlife, Schinoussa, a smaller, more serene sibling, beckons with its unspoiled landscapes and enchanting beaches. At first glance, Schinoussa seems to be sprinkled with golden sands, surrounded by the sparkling blue of the Aegean Sea. Each beach presents a unique character, promising different experiences to its visitors.

Tsigouri Beach

Tsigouri Beach is arguably the most famous on the island. A stretch of fine golden sand, it offers a pristine shoreline coupled with calm, shallow waters. Tsigouri is easily accessible, located close to the island’s main village, Chora. Its beauty and proximity make it a favorite among both locals and tourists. While it boasts of natural charm, it’s also equipped with some basic amenities, allowing visitors to spend an entire day under the sun.

Livadi beach

Livadi beach is located on the southwest coast of the island and is only 850 meters from Chora. It is quite long with deep blue waters and a sandy shore with large tamarisk trees. The view is amazing, while the Santa Claus peninsula starts from here. It has road access from a dirt road that starts from Chora and enough space for parking. It is also reached by a 10-minute walk from a path that starts from Chora.

Lioliou beach

In the north-east of the island, with scenery that alternates from sandy to rocky, the beach of Liolos is attractive to everyone but is especially suitable for small children since its crystal clear waters are shallow. It is not very big but it is wide with lots of tamarisk trees for shade.

Fikio beach

For the adventurous souls, Fikio beckons. This beach is not easily accessible by road. Instead, it’s often reached via a picturesque trek, which only enhances the experience. The reward for this effort is a stunning pebbled beach, surrounded by impressive rock formations. The waters here have an almost magical clarity, making it a favorite spot for snorkelers.
Fikio beach is a small , sandy beach, with small tamarisk trees and turquoise waters on the north side of the island. Ideal for underwater fishing. It has road access from a 2 km long asphalt road starting from Chora and then from a dirt road that ends at the beach.

Psili Ammos

Psili Ammos is one of the most beautiful beaches of Schinoussa, near the settlement of Mesaria, on the northeastern coast of the island. It is not very long (60 meters long), but its landscape is unique, with golden sand and dunes reaching up to the rocks, crystal clear waters and tamarisk trees for shade. The only negative is that it gets a lot from the north, but the beauty of the landscape compensates you.

Almyros beach

The beach of Almyros is one of the beaches in Schinoussa and is located on the eastern coast of the island and is about 2 km from Chora. Large, with a span of 350 m, it is divided in two by a rocky formation located in the middle of the beach. With golden sand, tamarisk trees for shade and crystal clear shallow waters. It’s vast, with a mix of sand and pebbles, and offers panoramic views of the neighboring island of Koufonisia. Its remote location ensures fewer visitors, making it ideal for those seeking solitude.

Pori beach

Pori is a small piece of sand with rocks around it that at some point form a large cave that provides shade all day. With coarse sand on the coast, crystal blue waters and a view of Amorgos, it is ideal for peace and seclusion. It is reached by road up to the beach of Almyros and from there on foot following the 150 m path that starts from the end of the beach of Almyros.

Gerolimionas beach

Tiny but very beautiful beach with coarse sand and turquoise waters in the bay of Gerolimnion on the west side of the island. It is particularly suitable for nature lovers and is ideal for spearfishing. To get there follow the road to Messaria and just before the village you will see the dirt road going left. At the first opening of this dirt road, turn left again. The last 300m of this road is a bit difficult for a car so many do it on foot.

Gagavi beach

Gagavi beach is the second beach of the Gulf of Aligaria. Smaller than the first, with a length of 30 m, it has transparent blue waters and small salt caves for shade.

Aligaria beach

The first of the three beaches of the Gulf of Aligaria on the southern coast of the island. It is beautiful with golden fine sand and clear blue-green waters. Kampos beach is the other beach of the Gulf of Aligaria. A small sandy beach, surrounded by rocks, with crystal clear waters and an interesting bottom.

Agios Vasilios beach

The beach of Agios Vasilios is beautiful with fine pebbles on the edge of the peninsula of Agios Vasilios. It has an opening of 110 meters and wonderful blue-green waters.

Sifneiko Bay

Deserted bay with wild beauty on the western coast of the island. It was a hideout for pirates while nowadays it is a popular anchorage for sailing boats. Marouso cave is also located here.

Bazaios beach

Bazaios beach is the continuation of Liolos beach to the left with a rocky coast in between. Tiny, with an opening of about 80 meters, it is overgrown with ropes that reach close to the sea and has wonderful blue-green waters.

Mersini beach

A beach about 60 meters long with sand and tamarisk trees, next to the port of the island of Mersini. The beach offers natural shade, but is not so quiet due to its proximity to the port, but also because it is a passage for locals.

Fontana beach

In the Gulf of Fontana, on the northeastern coast of the island, there are two small sandy beaches with wonderful blue-green waters and a view of Kato Koufonissi, Keros and Amorgos on the right. Attraction of the area, the small Venetian castle that can be seen from the beach.

Tholari beach

Small sandy beach without trees, near the beach of Psili Ammos on the north-eastern coast of the island. Ideal for those looking for peace and seclusion, as well as for underwater fishing. It has road access to the beach of Psili Ammos and from there on foot via a 350 meter path.
