Discover the beaches in Nisyros

Nisyros has few beaches, but they are enough,  as they have a unique beauty. Enjoy your swim at the beaches of Lefki Paralia, Pachia Ammos, Pali, Lies, Agios Savvas, Katsouni, Avlaki, Agia Irini and Chochlakia, with impressive black pebbles, ideal for windsurfing and snorkeling.

There are also nice beaches on the neighboring islands of Gyali and Agios Antonios, which you can visit as a day trip by boat. Day trips are also made to the islets of Pyrgousa, Pachia and Strogyli, while you can also go around the island.

Nisyros is an island for holidays without sunbeds, beach bars, jet skis and beach parties. If you want shade and coolness on the sand, you should buy your own umbrella and take drinking water with you.

Pachia Ammos loves nudism and free camping, It certainly has room for everyone, since it is vast and is a 15-minute walk from the nearest parking lot.

In any case, you will find a quiet beach a little further , in Lies, away from the crowds. Another quiet beach is in Chochlakou, with the large pebbles, very close from Mandraki. If you start in the morning, you might even find a place under the few tamarind trees

Agios Savvas beach

Agios Savvas is located on the northwest side of the island and is a small beach impressive due to its colors with dark sand and coarse pebbles.

Avlaki beach

Avlaki is on the south side of the island and a pebbly beach, easily accessible and overlooking the monastery of Agios Panteleimon. The waters are shallow and the bottom is covered with black and red stones.

Gialiskari beach

Gialiskari is located on the north side of the island and is a beach with dark sand and pebbles. Once the color of the sand was white, due to pumice mining in the area and thus it was also known as the “white coast”.

Lies beach

On the eastern side of the island are the Lies which are a set of small coves. The length of the beach exceeds 1.5 km. Most of the beach is covered by dark sand, but in some places there are also pebbles.

Paloi beach

Paloi beach is located on the north side of Nisyros, next to the homonymous village. It is quite a long beach, with its length reaching 400 meters, and it is covered by dark fine sand while at the beginning of the sea there are large pebbles. Along the coast there are many tamarisk trees for natural shade.

Pachia Ammos beach

Pachia Ammos beach is located on the eastern side of the island and is considered the most beautiful beach of Nisyros. It is a long and wide beach with a length of approximately 350 meters. It has thick dark sand, crystal clear waters and a sandy bottom. It is very isolated and surrounded by dunes and bushes that hide it.

Chochlakoi beach

Chochlakoi beach is very close to Chora. It got its name because of the large and smooth pebbles it has both outside and inside the sea. With its dark volcanic pebbles, rocks and the cave located there, Chochlaki is one of the most popular beaches on the island. At one end of the beach there is a hollow in the rocks and at the back some trees and bushes.
