The beach of Sarakiniko in Milos

All these characteristics make Sarakiniko one of the most photographed landscapes of the Aegean. It got its name from the Saracen pirates who used it as a base while it overlooks Sifnos and Kimolos.
The beach is not organized so you should bring the necessary things with you, but you will find a small beach (about 10 meters long) for sand lovers and mostly beautiful rocks to spread your towels and take a dip in the deep blue and crystal clear waters.
The volcanic eroded rocks penetrate the emerald sea creating small and large caves, while the lack of greenery, combined with the white color of the rocks and the intense reflection of light, create a landscape reminiscent of the moon. Many of the rocks also contain fossils.

Sarakiniko got its name from the Saracen pirates who used the place as a base and refuge. You can still see the carved moorings for the ships on the rocks and the carved caves in the soft rock at the bottom of the canyon that ends in its small sandy beach.
It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the Aegean as its all-white volcanic rocks penetrate the deep blue sea creating impressive caves. The beach is located on the north side of Milos, near Adamas, and you can easily reach it either by your vehicle or by bus.
