Ferries to Milos
Many visitors choose to travel to Milos by ferry, as it provides an opportunity to take in the picturesque views of the Aegean and other Cycladic islands.
Ferries to Milos from Piraeus
Piraeus is the primary port for ferries traveling to the Cyclades, including Milos. Almost all ferries coming to Milos dock at the port of Adamas. Several ferry companies operate routes to Milos among them Aegean Speed Lines, Blue Star Ferries, SeaJets and Golden Star Ferries.
During the peak summer months (June to September), there are multiple ferries daily from Piraeus to Milos. Off-peak, the frequency might be reduced.
The duration of the journey depends on the type of ferry. High-speed ferries can make the journey in around 2.5 to 4 hours, while conventional ferries might take around 5-7 hours.
Prices vary depending on the company, type of ferry, and class of ticket. A one-way economy ticket might range from €20 to €50. High-speed ferries and higher-class tickets are typically more expensive. It’s advisable to book in advance, especially during peak season, to ensure seat availability and potentially get better prices. You can book tickets online through official ferry company websites or through platforms specializing in Greek ferries. Tickets can also be bought at travel agencies in Athens or at the port. However, booking in advance is advisable.
Ferries from other islands
Apart from Piraeus, Milos is also connected by ferry with other islands in the Cyclades, such as Santorini, Folegandros, Sifnos, and more. This allows for island-hopping, a popular activity among tourists in Greece.
Tips
Always arrive at the port at least 30 minutes to an hour before departure. Check if there are any discounts or offers available, especially if you are traveling round-trip or with a group.
Consider the time of day you travel. Evening ferries might arrive at Milos late at night, which can be inconvenient if you don’t have prior accommodation arrangements. Lastly, always check the ferry schedules and availability directly with the ferry operators or trusted booking platforms, as they can change depending on the season, demand, and other factors.
