The seaside village of Panagia Kanala in Kythnos

The Church of Panagia Kanala was built in 1869 on the site of the original church which legend says was built after the icon was found by fishermen between Kythnos and Serifos. Panagia Kanala is the Patroness of the island and every Fifteenth of August you honor her with the magnificence that befits her.
In Panagia Kanala is the only pine forest of the island as well as one of the most beautiful beaches of the island, the beach of Megali Ammos where our rooms for rent, Margarita, are located on the sea. On the north side of the settlement you will find the beautiful Antonides beach, and below the Church of the Virgin Mary the small Ammoudaki beach.

Almost on top of the waves at the edge of the cape where the Church of Panagia Kanala is located overlooking the endless blue of the Aegean and Serifos you will also see the small Church of Agia Kalliope which celebrates on the 8th of June.

In the settlement you will find traditional taverns and restaurants and you will taste the fine local cuisine with fresh fish and seafood. In the cafes of the area you will enjoy your breakfast, coffees and drinks. In the summer months there is a regular connection with the port of the island Merichas and also with the traditional village of Dryopida.
