Barbati Corfu travel guide

barbatiBarbati has a long beach of white stone and shingle and a very impressive mountain backdrop with Mount Pantokrator of Corfu rising up steeply behind the beach.

The resort at Barbati has two sides. The village lies on the main road that runs high above the beach and seems a busy little place with a deal of traffic and shops on both sides of the busy road.

It’s a interesting place to stop if you don’t mind the traffic, with a bakery, supermarket and laundry as well as the usual tourist gift shops and a small selection of bars, cafes and tavernas.

Side streets branch off the main road and run down the steep hill to Barbati beach which has a different feel altogether.

The bay is well sheltered and the Blue Flag beach is clean and safe. Across the sea from the long stretch of white pebble is Corfu Town and the Albanian coast beyond.

The beach at Barbati has showers and toilets as well as changing rooms and the water is clean and clear with a gentle slope into the sea, so this is a good beach for families.

There are a few beachside tavernas and bars and plenty of sunbeds along with other tourist facilities such as boat hire and watersports.

Barbati is a relaxed family beach of white shingle in a dramatic setting of pale cliffs topped with forests of cypress and pine.
