Avlaki Corfu travel guide

avlaki-corfuAvlaki is a relatively little known beach located between Agios Stefanos to the south and the bigger and more popular holiday resort of Kassiopi to the west.

It is a long and beautiful beach crescent of pebble with a few apartments at the western end and a couple of beach tavernas.

Avlaki is a beach for those who enjoy a quiet location and good swimming. There are sunbeds and a boardwalk over the stones. There are also showers, toilets and changing facilities.

Although shallow at the water’s edge there’s a sharp drop a couple of metres out, so Avlaki beach is not ideal for children and the water can get choppy when a north breeze starts blowing.

The beach has a large car park at the eastern end and a road runs behind for most of its length. Though normally quiet, Avlaki can get quite crowded at weekends as it is a popular beach for Greeks.

There are lots of walks to be had in the area around Avlaki, with footpaths to Kassiopi in the east and back to Agios Stefanos around the headland to the south.

There’s not much in the way of facilities at Avlaki, no big shops or bus service but there is some boat rental to be had and sometimes a cruise to Corfu Town.

Watersports are confined to a few pedaloes, but there is a sailing school and a pool bar at the nearby Bella Mare Hotel.
