Acharavi Corfu travel guide

acharaviThe relatively quiet beach resort of Acharavi on Corfu has a good many shops and tavernas, most of which line the main road through the village, with more to be found in the beach area.

A popular resort with British holidaymakers there is little in the way of traditional Greek here but the resort is nowhere near as downmarket as busier places like Roda or Sidari.

Most of the beachfront tavernas offer English-style fast food and all-day breakfast but those seeking more traditional Greek fare will find some very good tavernas in the old town.

A number of travel agents on the main street offer daily boat excursion and there are also ferries and day trips to Kefalonia or you can even visit the Albanian mainland which sits just across the straits.

Acharavi beach is mainly pebble and the stones extend underwater so this is a place to buy some waterproof footwear if you fancy a swim or plan an extended beach holiday.

Visitors who prefer sand underfoot can walk out of the resort in either direction and they will soon be rewarded with some sandy stretches of beach and shallow water for paddling or swimming.

Acharavi beach has all the basic watersports but for more adventurous rides you should head to neighbouring Roda where there are banana boat rides, paragliding and much more. Take the bus or enjoy a pleasant 30 minute stroll along the beach.
