The village of Maltezana in Astypalea

Maltezana is the second largest holiday resort of Astypalaia , which has prevailed since the Venetian conquerors of the island – is nine kilometers from the town of the island and in recent years has been developing as a tourist destination.

It is located on the so-called “Outer Island”, on the opposite side from Chora, Livadi and Pera Gialos, where it is built at the end of a fertile valley, in the greenest location of the island.

It is worth visiting the Roman Baths of Talara with their colorful mosaics, the small church of Analipsi, which is on the edge of the village and is the oldest of the settlement, and the church and cave of Panagia Poulariani, on the way to Bathy, where, according to with the old sailors of the place, on nights of bad weather a light is turned on for the boats to find their way.
