The most photographed church on Leros
Agios Isidoros church is one of the most beautiful churches of Leros. Without exaggeration it looks like it emerges from the rock into the sea. It is one of the most picturesque romantic and idyllic places of the island that you must visit.
The small whitewashed church, with its balconies and stone benches, is located in the area of Kokkali, in the bay of Gourna on the west coast, and is connected to the mainland by a stone path about 50 meters long, next to the old sunken port.The path is mostly wet from the sea, so you have to be careful when crossing it.
Agios Isidoros is the most photographed church on the island and that is why many weddings and baptisms take place here. It is worth mentioning that it celebrates on May 14th.
At the bottom around the rock where Agios Isidoros is built, there are ruins which probably come from ancient buildings.
The waters are clear blue. Here one can swim or fish from the rock.
Definitely have a camera with you! It is one of the most photographed parts of the island and the shots, especially at sunset, are magical.
