Daughters of the Titan Atlas and Hesperis. They were the guardians of a tree with golden apples, a wedding present for Hera by Gaea. The Hesperides were perhapes called Aegle, Erythia, Vesta and Arethusa and they lived in the land of the west, were their gardens provided eternal happiness for its visitors. This country was also valled Elysium, and was the opposite of Hades. Here, some of the heros and many women ended up after their death.
