Panteli the most charming holiday resort of Leros
Panteli, a traditional fishing village with a very beautiful beach, is the most picturesque part of the island. Panteli resort is located within the homonymous bay, very close to Platanos and Agia Marina.
The small, picturesque village with a genuine island character with old traditional houses, boats, fish taverns that compose an idyllic image with a background of the blue sea!
Above Panteli is the imposing Byzantine castle of Panagia and the Windmills, which you should definitely visit. In this seaside village you will find the second most popular beach of Leros. It is a relatively small beach, with a length of 120 meters and a width of 5 meters. Its coast is covered with fine sand and small pebbles which continues to the seabed. Its blue crystal clear waters are quite shallow in the first meters, which make it ideal for families with small children.
In Panteli yoy will find several hotel units, rooms and studios to rent, restaurants, cafes and mini markets. Fans of snorkeling, do not forget to bring the right equipment to enjoy the beauty of the seabed. In the center of the beach, there are piers for anchoring small boats and at its eastern end anchors and small yachts anchor. Access to Panteli is by the main road from Platanos to Lakki at the first left turn off from Platanos
Panteli is a pleasant, mild seaside resort that makes it a good base for exploring Leros, with plenty of places to eat and easy access to the busier villages of Platanos and Agia Marina.
In the early season is a small, quiet fishing village with a nice beach partly sand and partly pebbles, with umbrelas and sunbeds. There are some very good taverns: Psaropoula, Patimenos, Pyrofani and Zorbas – the choice is difficult because everything tasted very good at fair prices, with nice hosts, and extremely tasty wine. Add to that a full moon over the bay – what more do you need?
Things to do
There are two very convenient hotels on the beach, Panteli beach and Castelo and nice tavernas. In Pyrofani tavern you can find all kinds of tuna (depending on the season), lakers and first quality fish at very good prices. Another authentic option is Patimenos, on the beach. It has fresh fish and wonderful lobster pasta. For sea bream or wine with seafood and swimming in the sea all day, Psaropoula is what you need. So is Tzouma’s cafe on the beach. If you find yourself in Pandeli in September, you will enjoy the trawler and fisherman’s festival, where fresh fish is of course of honor.
