Megaris . It has a triangular shape . The northeastern end is 10.5 nautical
miles from the port of Piraeus . It has an area of 84.58 square miles and
12,078 residents .
The principal capes are : Holy Apostles , Livadia , Fourni, Tourlos , Agia Marina , Agios Antonios , Pyrgos and Paliopyrgos .
The main bays : Souvala , Agia Marina, Marathon.
The island is mountainous and arid with many hills and low mountains. The highest peak is Mount St. Elias ( alt. 531 m ).
