Zakynthos belongs to the Ionian Islands and is the southernmost of the major islands of
the Ionian Sea it covers an area of 402 sq. km with a population of 32,746
inhabitants. The eastern part of the island is flat and ends at low coasts,
while the west is mountainous and ends in cliffs .
The island forms many capes like Bohali the Kamilafka with a nice blue cave, Krioneri , Keri etc. and very picturesque small bays .
The mountains of the island are low. The most important is the Vrachionas and other smaller like Kaki Rachi and Makria Rachi.The island has abundant water and wells. The island has a Mediterranean climate with plenty of rain in the winter.
