Lefkada is an island in the Ionian Sea , near the coast of Akarnania . Located North

It is the most mountainous of the Ionian islands , with its highest peak Elati ( 1,158 m ) of Mount Estavromenos . Generally lowland and hilly areas cover 27 % of the surface of the island and` only half of those are exploitable . The other is pastures or barren lands. The dismemberment of the coast is intense , with small coves and gulfs. The climate is mediterranean , with a mild winters and cool summers.
