Samos island has an area of 472.48 Wed km and its territory is mountainous. Here is the highest mountain of the Aegean islands Kerkis ( 444 m ) , with steep slopes and ravines to make it inaccessible. Another mountain of Samos is the Ampelos with highest peak the Prophet Elijah ( 1,060 m ) . Samos has no rivers . But there are plenty of water, streams and springs.Samos is the industrial center of the whole county. The Wine industry is important as well as crafts and tanning. There are also a number of processing enterprises and agribusiness (flour mills, oil mills, soap, etc.).The island exportslarge quantities of famous wines.
