Lesvos, also known as Mytilini from the name of its capital, is one
of the largest islands in Greece, with an area of 1,614.4 square kilometers,
fourth after Cyprus, Crete and Evia.
Located in the northeastern Aegean opposite the Asia Minor coast, which lies about 4.5 miles and has a population of 105,082 inhabitants.
It has a triangular shape and forms two large shallow and very safe bays, Kalloni and Gera. Lesvos is a mountainous island, with several lowlands.
The most important mountains are Lepetimnos (968 m height), Olympus (967 meters) and Partheni, the island has many small rivers
