It belongs to the Northern Aegean Region and the Prefecture of Lesbos.<\/p>\n<p>The island produce very good quality of ouzo and some of the best known brands of this beverage come from the island of Lesvos<\/p>\n<p>The island&#8217;s capital is Mytilene built on the south-eastern tip of the island a modern city which is administrative, commercial and cultural centre of the island with a population of 27,247 inhabitants.<\/p>\n<p>It is the seat of the county and the region, and the Ministry of the Aegean.
