Woman froma village outside Rome who was martyred for her faith by decapitation in 140. She was the daughter of Agathonos and Politeias and got her name because she was born on a Friday, which is Paraskevi in Greek.
From an early age she studied the Holy Scriptures and lived like a nun, converting many to the Christian faith.
She is the patron saint of Alonissos.
