Scuba Diving – Snorkelling. There are several very good schools
in Paros where you can either learn how to snorkel or scuba dive
or improve your current skills. The coastline around Paros is
ideal for diving, with its crystal clear waters giving a
visibility distance of around 40 metres you can explore caves,
wrecks, rocks, walls and the fascinating marine life that lives
around the coast of the island. It is a wonderful way to spend
some of your time whilst on holiday. Most of the diving schools
are located on the beaches of New Golden Beach, Golden Beach,
Santa Maria and Pounta. All of them are affiliated with PADI
(Professional Association of Diving Instructors). This
organisation is the largest and most esteemed diver training
establishment in the world and the PADI diving courses you can
take range from children’s courses to Instructor level. The Aegean Diving College (ADC) . This excellent diving
school is located on Chrissi Akti (Golden Beach)and was formed
in 1998 by the highly qualified diver Peter Nicolaides, who in
1975, whilst working as a Diving Officer for the National
Geographic Foundation Expedition in Greece, discovered an early
Bronze Age wreck off Dhokos island in Argolis Bay. In 1976 he
worked with the famous underwater explorer, Jacques Cousteau.
The Aegean Diving College hold 3* CMAS and PADI Instructor
qualifications. Highly qualified instruction is offered in all
kinds of diving, from beginners to experienced divers and some
are suitable for children. Examples of what’s on offer are
snorkelling; scuba diving; diving certification courses; wreck
and cave diving as well as courses in marine archaeology,
ecology and biology and underwater photography.
X-ta-sea Divers. Is one of the oldest diving centres in
Paros. Licensed by the Ministry of Merchant Nave and certified
by BVQI and the Hellenic Diving Federation, CMAS, IANTD, PADI
and DAN it is extremely well qualified with a team of active,
experienced divers who provide highly professional scuba diving
instruction where your safety is paramount. The dives that you
may be able to do, depending on your ability, include wreck
diving, cave diving night diving and current diving. Children’s
diving courses are available as well as refresher dives for
those who are out of practice. These are just some of the many
diving courses that X-ta-sea offers. The centre also provides
the opportunity to try Kayak, See Bees and water skiing. You
will find their central office in Naoussa.
Eurodivers Hellas Diving Club is located at Pounta beach,
opposite Holiday Sun Hotel and 8km away from Parikia town.
Founded in 1995, the club adheres to the stringent standards of
PADI, with all instructors affiliated with this world renowned
organisation. Eurodivers offers a full range of supervised
diving, depending upon your experience and your needs. PADI
Certified courses are also available from beginner juniors to
instructor level. Professionally run, with safety an important
factor, it has excellent quality equipment and DAN insurance
cover. As well as scuba diving, Eurodivers also run courses in
snorkelling and can arrange individual or group boat trips to
the best diving and snorkelling beaches in Paros. .
