Hostels rooms camping and budget accommodation in Santorini

The fact that Santorini is probably one of the most visited islands in Greece means that you can find any kind of accommodation there. This ranges from luxury hotels, with swimming pools and private balconies, Honeymoon suites (as Santorini is one of the most popular Greek destinations for newlyweds and honeymooners) to pensions, rooms to let, Youth Hostels and campsites. However, although Santorini has masses of accommodation of all types, it is extremely crowded during the high season and if you haven't pre book your accommodation you will find it hard to find your perfect place to stay straight away.

You may have to settle for taking a room from one of the people advertising their rooms at the port and stay there while you look around for something more luxurious. Having said that, however, you may find that the room you have taken is exactly what you are looking for. Many of these independent small pensions are family run and extremely well placed and comfortable.

If you are looking for a really luxurious holiday in Santorini, then head for the hotels located at Fira, Imerovigli and Oia on the Caldera rim, with amazing sunset views to the Aegean sea . Be prepared thought to pay an arm and a leg for hotel rooms in these areas. If you want to stay in cheaper accommodation at Fira then go to the hotels not located at the rim of the Santorini Caldera.

For budget accommodation Fira is well provided. There are three Youth Hostels, a campsite and a plethora of pensions and rooms to let. You can also find another youth hostel in Oia and two Youth Hostels and a campsite in Perissa, as well as cheaper rooms and pension accommodation. Kamari is not such a good venue if you are travelling to Santorini and hoping to find somewhere to stay when you arrive. Rooms, studios and hotels are all usually by pre-arranged booking in this beach resort. If you are travelling during the high season without having pre-arranged your accommodation and are unable to find somewhere in the above mentioned resorts, then one of the best places to find somewhere to stay is at Karterados and Pirgos.
