Anyte
Poetess from
Tegea who lived in the 3rd century BC. She may have had a school of poetry
on the Peloponnese.
Anyte wrote lyrical poetry about nature in the Doric dialect. Just a few epigrams
have been preserved by her, as well as 12 fictional epitaphs
over pets.
This created a popular genre amongst the Romans.
